What exactly is the fundamental contradiction between Materialism and Idealism? I don’t understand how Materialism must be a sub set of the Realist position.

Actually it’s the most successful scientific theory ever. It’s the only theory to date to have been confirmed in every experiment ever done on it. What you are saying is akin to “evolution is just a theory.”

In fact based on Zeilinger’s experiment in 2012, if there is something that can add to QM, then it will need foreknowledge of what the experimenter does PRIOR to the experiment being carried out, and will need to fix the quantum states accordingly! In other words “divinely planted fossils.”

IP, any chance you could do a video solely on the delayed choice quantum eraser experiment? It seems to me many people do not understand its implications. Doing a more detailed video would help tremendously in explaining that it was actually the knowledge of information about the particle and not the act of measuring it which caused collapse.

  4. Denchanter3574 November, 2013 at 3:46 pm

the results inferred that matter didn’t exist independent of observation or measurement//

no they didn’t infer that, they inferred that observation, measurement, and interaction with other particles collapse superpositions into standard matter. since this happens all the time in matter rich environs, finding superpositions in a natural state practically does not happen.

“the act of a conscious observer creates the existence of physical objects”

This is where we can know you don’t understand.

Why do I have to stop eventually? Still don’t see from which arguments it follows that there must be a single architect. Can you elaborate?

  6. jerry decaire4 November, 2013 at 3:42 pm

And yes, it makes sense to me that our minds and the perceived matter about us is in a sort of dance-they are inseparable. There is more to this reality than just our minds.

Hi-did you get most of this material from Quantum Enigma? It agrees with my own philosophy about the nature of reality. I believe our little effects regarding the conscious observer would account for the initial spark of intention or will. But unlike the new age crowd, I am not convinced we can levitate tables or boulders. But what we can do is to will our arms to lift the table-therein is the effect of the conscious observer. God is the Big Kahuna Observer who can levitate tables and more .

You will love this video –> /watch?v=JKHUaNAxsTg

Scientist Rupert Sheldrake pretty much says the exact same thing as you do in this video.

He is against materialism as well.

LOL, I relied on experimental data, not theoretical. You are only fooling yourself if you think this is just theoretical now.

  10. InspiringPhilosophy4 November, 2013 at 12:29 pm

God created the universe, by speaking it into existence, which is information, technically. So that actually seems to correlate nicely: /watch?v=BBi65O-gTPU

not really there are more Buddhists than Atheists from want I have read up if your getting your from an atheist website than u need to look somewhere else most of that stuff is propaganda but who knows the internet is not best place 4 that kind of info anyway also wants with come out of the closet crap being an Atheist is not like being Gay or Black u chose to be 1

  12. InspiringPhilosophy4 November, 2013 at 12:08 pm

Who are you talking about? Since I probably missed it, which happens, claim down.

  13. JayDee2844 November, 2013 at 11:44 am

I hate the far right & left both r bad 4 everyone the education system in the US & UK are a Joke that’s way homeschooling is becoming so popular

  14. JayDee2844 November, 2013 at 11:32 am

yes and the popular view from atheists is that if we do away with religion will have a happy fun world doesn’t make that right also most Europeans in the 13th century did not believed the Earth was flat ancient Greeks did away with that long before get your history right

  15. hatbat12344 November, 2013 at 11:21 am

No, actually you’re right on Deism, about 20% of the world population consider themselves deists.

Atheists are to be consider about 10%-12% of the world population, back in the early to mid 20th century, it was considered to be about 1-2%

10%-12% of 7 billion people is is between 900 million and over a billion people.

There are probably more, considering many are afraid to come out of the closet due to be rejected by family.

That’s still a lot compared compared to Jewish,Buddhism, etc

Quantum Physics is still a very in-complete kind of physics which don’t have much explaining power. The examples you gave is just phenomenons still requires explanation which profound theory is not yet to be found. Saying that “Quantum Physics Debunks Materialism” is very naive when no theory to support it. Nobody expect a theist to respect science. But at least give a REAL theory which really debunking anything. What you give is just phenomenons cannot yet explained.

I <3 IP. He's so logical and fluid in his videos, it's mesmerizing. He converts me to theism every time I watch one of his videos.

lets not be to hard on atheist, I hardly blame the individual, with some exceptions, and hold my head in shame with the young earth creationist and other extreme form of Christianity that have made Christ look bad. Our education system has also be riddled with progressive left wing extremists who have done there best to disassemble Christianity. I personally went kicking and screaming to god, I know this will be tough for many atheists

Given that this was posted 9 hrs ago and IP’s last comment was 6… I find it appalling that he didn’t call you out on every statement you made. First statement is an ad hominem attack and a fallacy of hasty generalization. Second is an obvious argumentum ad populum. Thirdly, you’re just an arrogant asshole that looks childish because he can’t bring himself to write “shitty” on the internet. I can’t believe that this god five likes. Seriously? Who likes this vacuous shit?

  21. Chris Douthitt4 November, 2013 at 5:47 am

Belief because of any dogma is deluded. But truth does not decide popularity, 99+% of Europeans in the 13th century believed the Earth was flat, popularity doesn’t make Justin Beiber good, I can go on.

  22. JayDee2844 November, 2013 at 5:39 am

we are God dude we are all one

  23. JayDee2844 November, 2013 at 5:22 am

hate tell u this but atheism is not really on the raise as you my think most of them so called surveys use half-truths there mostly just propaganda that the New Atheists use to make out there winning a losing war they like too think that Nonreligious means Atheists which it does not its not atheism that’s growing its Deism
